5 Simple Ways to Open Your Blog Post With a Bang
Practise
what you read in Brian Clark’s article and craft an opening to a blog post (on
your own blog). Leave a link to your blog post in the comments.
I thought the article 'The Ultimate Blogger Writing Guide' was a very clear and easy to understand. It was interesting to see that even though we are talking about a newer form of media, the old classic rules of writing apply. Be clear, be organized and be specific are all rules I learned in college that still apply today.
ReplyDeleteYup Megan, those old rules are the good ones!
DeleteAfter reading this article, "the Ultimate Blogger Writing Guide' I was more aware of my own blog and how much information I had written. All eight points make sense, an easy way for me to remember when blogging is to use the "kiss" theory....keep it simple silly. Blogging is meant to keep the reader interested, less is more in the case of blogging.
ReplyDeleteHere is my attempt at a "Blog post with a Bang" I am interested if this caught and kept your attention.
ReplyDeleteHere is the link, enjoy?

Michelle thanks for starting your own blog and writing your intro post. Why don't you copy and paste it over on our blog as a separate post too?
ReplyDeleteI love your example of the employee and the CV....sounds slightly ridiculous! Good luck!
The Ultimate Blogger teaches us to always put the reader first, and to keep the blog short, simple and straight to the point.
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly with the steps listed in "The Ultimate Blogger Writing Guide". In order to engage the largest audience possible you need to keep your writing clear, concise and conversational. You're writing a blog, not addressing the Queen.

Excellent articles on blogging. I really enjoyed Dean Rieck's tips about being clear and writing in a conversational manner.
ReplyDeleteHere's my first attempt at writing a blog opening. Enjoy! http://gspfan.blogspot.ca/
ReplyDeleteI am already a devotee of Strunk and White and this blog was preaching to the choir! I am forever trying to convince the people that I write and edit for that simple is better, that there is no need to use four words when one will do. I also really like Rieck's comments about organizing thoughts and using an outline.
ReplyDeleteAnd I started a blog to practice what Brian Clark wrote about. Here's a link:http://amadventuresinblogland.blogspot.ca/
